means that they are using another program (tool) that assists. the programs let you create instant saves wherever you want or they slow the game down but when you play it back it just plays back the smooth movie with no mistakes. wikipedia is your friend

I was there in the day too it blew peoples minds when i used to play this, one of the best games ever made shame the N64 version stank!!!
